Almost live from Jerusalem - Sunrise moment at Birkat Hachama
Birkat Hachama 2009 - New Music from Nava Tehila, Jerusalem
Here are new tunes we have just written for the sun blessings ritual. All the music is by Yoel Sykes and was created and sung by Yoel Sykes, Daphna Rosenberg and rabbi Ruth Gan Kagan in preperation for this once in 28 years mitzva. For Shabbat music from Nava Tehila click here
The ceremony, as we have planned it, is to start 15 min before sunrise with the chant Sunshine. The next chant, Psalm 148- Min Hashamayim takes us into a meditative praisefull place. about 3 min. before sunrise we will shift gears into the more upbeat Psalm 19 - the verses to be sung by the leader. when we get to the line "Lashemesh sam Ohel" we are awaiting the sunrise. When the sun starts to shine we will all join together with the line " Vehu Kechatan" that mean - And he (the sun) is coming out like a groom emerging fron the chuppa".
One of the childern will read the verses from parashat bereshit about the creation of the Sun .
We will share a kavvana and bless together Oseh Maase Bereshit.
We will bring to our awarness to the sun as a renewable sourse of energy and healing.
The ritual will close with Ki L'olam Chasdo where we add spontanius verses of our own for what we praise the creator for.
